Vegetarian Gravy

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons and 1/2 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons and 1/2 teaspoon chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons and 1/2 teaspoon all-purpose flour
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons nutritional yeast
  • 1 tablespoon and 1-3/4 teaspoons light soy sauce
  • 3/4 cup and 2 teaspoons vegetable broth
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper

Directions

  1. Heat oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Saute onion and garlic until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in flour, nutritional yeast, and soy sauce to form a smooth paste. Gradually whisk in the broth. Season with sage, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, and simmer, stirring constantly, for 8 to 10 minutes, or until thickened.
